Truffles in Stardew Valley are a special animal product that requires you to have pigs, although it’s a bit more complicated than other animal products. They also don’t actually count as animal products, instead existing as a foraged mushroom, despite requiring a pig to get them. If you want to start collecting these valuable items, you’re going to have to do a bit of work to set your pigs up for success.
How to get Truffles
Pigs can find truffles on your farm every season except winter, so long as the requirements are met. Pigs cost 16,000G from Marnie’s Ranch and you must have a deluxe barn for them to live in.
The requirements for a pig to find truffles are:
- Pig is fed
- Pig has been let out of the barn
- It’s not raining or stormy
- It’s not winter
- There are empty tiles for truffles to be place on
The way it works is that as a pig explores the outside area, it has a chance to spawn a truffle whenever it stands on an empty tile on the ground. You can restrict a pig’s movement by putting fences around the barn. Doing this won’t limit the pig’s ability to find truffles, so long as there are empty spaces in the fenced area. There is a lot of math at work, but so long as there is an empty tile for the pig, they are almost guaranteed to find one truffle per day, with the chance for more.
